Lawrence "Leland" Waters, Sr.

Raleigh- Lawrence "Leland" Waters, Sr., 73, passed away on Tuesday at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Born in Florence, SC, he was the son of the late William Waters and Thelma Jean Simmons Waters.

Leland was a graduate of Florence High School, following graduation, he went to work. The job that he did the longest, greatly enjoyed, and was proud to work as a parts department manager for many years with Mack Trucks Dealerships. Leland was an avid golfer for many years, but once his granddaughter, Kaisley was born he gave up golf and became the best Papa to her that he could be. Once she was born, he and Elaine immediately moved back to North Carolina to be close to her until his passing.

A gathering celebrating Leland's life will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 26th at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Rd. Garner, NC 27529.

Leland is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Elaine Hardee Waters; daughter, Kaitie Waters (Daniel Williams) of Raleigh; sister, Bobbie Waters Myers (Richard) of Darlington, SC; grandchildren, Ashley Cummings (Dontae) of Columbia, SC; Kaisley Williams of Raleigh; as well as three great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Leland was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence Leland Waters, Jr.; sister, Jean Crawford; brothers, John Waters and Jerry Waters.
