“A designer is an emerging synthesis of artist, inventor, mechanic, objective economist and evolutionary strategist.” -R. Buckminster Fuller Leland Wayne Poole the Designer. He lived using every part of his mind, soul, and heart of gold as a problem solver with unique, brilliant, and gentle ability to see facets for solutions and beyond. Born at home in Auburn, NC on September 11, 1944, Wayne belonged to a loving family noted for producing strong individualists inclined toward involvement, Christian faith, community, and public service. Wayne Poole loved life together with his wife, Nancy, and their family that includes: daughter, Adair Poole, her husband, Jose Luis Romero, and grandson, Daniel; daughter, Carly Penny, her husband Grant, and granddaughter Emaline; brother, James Wayland Poole, his wife, Harriet, nephew, Brandon Poole, his wife, Andrea and grandniece, Maggie. He was always inventing, building, and making life better with inspiration or hilarious gotcha Wayne jokes. His passion attracted fellow designers and builders to work with all their strength and play together like nobody else. An amazing company, built on the essence of integrity, was created. The company, Design Dimension, Inc., celebrated its golden 50th year anniversary in May 2017. Wayne showed his love of creating through the different businesses and clubs he helped found over the years. He and his wife were instrumental in establishing Kennebec Flying Club airport in Angier and they both enjoyed life as pilots. Together, they built The Golf Academy in Auburn. Wayne was also an avid sailor and for many years enjoyed being a part of Oriental Yacht Club. Porsche driving and romantic, revved-up motorcycle sunset cruises will go on forever. Over the years, many of us have come to ‘cool’ Wayne for loving care, belly laughter, and please-can-you-build-this-with-me time. Leland Wayne Poole passed away in the morning of June 12, 2018, surrounded by his wife, daughters, brother and sister-in-law. The family will hold a celebration of life on June 23, 2018 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 3000 E. Garner Rd, Raleigh, NC. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am with the celebration of life beginning at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to: Mt.
