Leola H. Stephenson

February 19, 1930 — April 10, 2016

Angier – Leola Hawkins Stephenson, 86, passed away on Sunday at Oak Hill Assisted Living Center. A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Ingham and Lula Pleasant Stephenson.  Leola was a graduate of Angier High School and attended Emmaus Bible College in Chicago. She also served as a missionary for the Sims Ministry in the Bahamas. Leola later worked for Farm Bureau and Great American Life Insurance Company in Underwriting. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday in the Chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Burial will follow at Harnett Memorial Park in Lillington. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Leola is survived by her brothers, A.D. Stephenson of Garner, David Stephenson and wife, Euba of Angier; sisters-in-law, Agatha Stephenson, May Stephenson, Jennie Stephenson Denning and Rebecca Stephenson; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Leola is preceded in death by her brothers, Rev. John B. Stephenson, Rev. Julian Stephenson, Wade Stephenson, Lindsy Stephenson; sisters, Sue Stephenson Nooney and Pauline Stephenson Guy.
