Leon Owen Bagwell

GARNER- Leon Owen Bagwell, 88, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Brother passed away Sunday, Veterans Day at his home. The last surviving child of Pearl and Dallie Bagwell, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Millie Bryan, sisters, Myrtle Poole and Margaret Phillips, brothers, Henry, Horace, Carl Lee, Coye, El, Lawrence and Emmett Bagwell. While serving in the Navy, during World War II, he went on seven different invasions in the Phillipines. He was also a retired Postal employee with twenty years of service. During retirement, he worked as a part time farmer and was a Charter Member of the Carrboro Farmers Market. As a longtime faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church he served his Lord in many positions including Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Mike King; son and daughter-in-law, David and Susan Bagwell; grandsons, Bryan and Matthew Bagwell and Mike King. The family extends their gratitude to Hospice of Wake County, Inc. for their support and care. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday at New Bethel Baptist Church, Garner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bryan Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
