LEONARD HALEY JONES, JR

“The Blueberry Man”

January 20, 1948 - December 11, 2022

Haley passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Hillcrest Rehab Facility, in Raleigh, NC, at the age of 74. Haley was born in Oxford, NC and the son of the late Leonard Haley Jones and Nannie Bivins Jones.

Haley loved life and living to the fullest, and was always the life of the party, wherever he went. Haley never met a stranger and was always there in one’s time of need.

Haley retired after 32 years, as an East Coast Division Manager with United Parcel Service. The friendship and comradery that he shared with all of his UPS friends meant so very much to him.

Haley was so very proud of his two children, Krystal and Wesley and the fine adults that they turned out to be, and loved them, along with his dog Gracie, with all of his heart and soul.

Haley is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Brenda Hicks Jones; Krystal Jones (Daughter) and her partner Melina Olivares; Wesley Jones (Son); Ann Jones Fiscus (Sister); Joy Fiscus(niece); Wayne Fiscus (nephew); Rocky Hicks (nephew-in-law); and his beloved dog “Gracie”.

Haley was preceded in death by his parents Leonard Haley Jones and Nannie Bivins Jones; William “Billy”Jones (brother); Barbara Ellen Jones (sister); Fontaine Jones (uncle) and Michael Jones (nephew) all of Oxford, NC.

Funeral will be held 1:00 pm Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Rd., Raleigh, NC, with a visitation to be held prior to the service from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Historic Oakwood Cemetery, with military honors. Donations may be made to DAV (Disabled American Veterans) www.dav.org
