Leroy Fulton Kenan, Jr.

Raleigh, NC - Leroy Fulton Kenan, Jr., fondly known as “Lee,” peacefully reunited with his Lord and Savior on Saturday July 11, 2020 with close family surrounding him, sharing memories of his life, stewardship, acts of unconditional kindness, and love while playing his favorite songs of praise and worship. Lee was born January 3, 1958 in Winston Salem, NC to Dr. Leroy Fulton Kenan Sr., and wife Wanda, later moving to the North Hills area of Raleigh NC attending EC Brooks Elementary, Carroll Middle School, graduating in the Class of 1976 from Sanderson High School. A lifelong Carolina “Tar Heel” fan, Lee attended and graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1980 earning a degree in business administration. He began his career in the Raleigh area with various retail and consulting businesses developing trusted and treasured relationships with his clients who became friends. Lee and his beloved wife Sharon met during his college years and married in 1992 at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church in Raleigh NC. They were blessed with a wonderful daughter Kaylee who is a 2020 graduate of Neuse Christian Academy, with plans to attend Meredith College. Lee was the consummate husband and father, always focusing on his “girls,” planning for holidays and fun, creating family traditions such as annual Christmas Tree Treks to the Boone NC area, and spending quality time in Blowing Rock / Blue Ridge Mountain areas of NC where he considered his second home. Lee and Sharon discovered their wonderful church, Southbridge Fellowship early in married life and built valued relationships with the members, staff, and outreach programs over the years. Lee served as a technical director for fellowship service and security team member, dedicated to the ensuring the production success of each Sunday program, documenting, and recording the church messages for members and the community. Lee depicted the term “Mr. Mom,” gladly, dutifully, and proudly taking Kaylee to school daily while parent chaperoning on multiple school field trips. With a high aptitude for technology, media, and internet applications, he provided many family and friends information technology (IT) volunteer support. He was constantly learning and exploring new internet solutions, applying them to resolve problems and provide solution support for many appreciative persons. With a good Christian caring heart, sincere and loyal service above self-approach to life, he was very loyal and supportive of those whose luckily crossed paths with him. His subtle, dry wit humor was always fast but he never put anything or anyone down. During his later years of health challenges, with the many ups and downs that invariably challenge and define a person, Lee was adamant to stay positive, never complain and “fight his battles” with courage and conviction of a blessed new day. His actions were witness for a calm and focused approach on appreciating life. A private family celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, July 14.
