Leslie Jo Schild

Leslie Jo Schild, 47, died on August 28, 2015 at her residence in Garner, NC after a heroic battle with breast cancer. Leslie was born in Rock Hill SC on May 13, 1968, daughter of the late Joe and Delane Baucom of Monroe, NC and the daughter-in-law of the late Raymond and Jerrie Schild of Myrtle Beach, SC. She graduated from Rock Hill High School and received a degree in education from Winthrop University. Her teaching career began in Loris, SC at Daisy Elementary School. After moving to Garner, NC, her career was spent at Washington GT Magnet Elementary School where she was known and loved by students, parents, teachers and staff. She is survived by her husband, Larry Schild and their two children, Logan and Lily. She is also survived by her sisters Melanie (John) Hornsby, Kelly (Mark) Redman, brother-in-law Bryan (Susan) Schild and Kim Conness (James) along with several nieces and nephews. Leslie was passionate about life and lived it to it’s fullest. She enjoyed traveling, experiencing new things and especially loved a good adventure. Leslie had a contagious laugh and an infectious smile that would brighten your day. She embraced celebrations of all types and was always surrounded by friends who loved her for her genuine, authentic qualities. She was fierce and courageous while fighting this disease and battled as hard as anyone could battle. Her courage was an inspiration to so many. Leslie will be missed more than words can express by her family and friends who loved her so deeply. The Schild family would like to thank all of the nurses and caregivers at Duke and Chapel Hill Cancer Centers who treated Leslie with exceptional skill and empathy throughout her illness. They extend a heartfelt thank you to Transitions LifeCare and Home Instead. We are also thankful for amazing friends who stood by us during the many years of this battle. Words are inadequate to express our gratitude. A celebration of life will be held at Holland’s United Methodist Church, 9433 Ten-Ten Road, Raleigh, NC on September 6, 2015 at 2pm. The family will receive friends after the service.
