Garner - Lewis “Craig” Partin, 61, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Kidney Cancer on Saturday June 4, 2022, in the care of his family. He was born on October 17, 1960, to the late Richard Walton Partin and Marquita Ann Ennis of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. Craig was a devoted and fun dad. This was his favorite role in his life. He constantly showed his children, Hope and Josh, love and encouragement. He loved to take them to Christian concerts, and always encouraged his children in their Christian faith. Craig was a member of C3 church in Clayton. Craig planned elaborate vacations for his children every year. He loved to take them to Carolina Beach. His favorite activity to do at the beach was what he called “living the beach lifestyle,” which consists of sitting on the balcony, looking at the ocean, and eating Britt’s Donuts. Craig was a beloved co-worker at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, where he worked in the Recovery Room for 23 years. During his time at Rex, he cared for many patients and their families. He also showed tremendous care to his co-workers, whom he affectionately referred to as “my nurses.” He was known to keep Lindt Chocolate Truffles in the pocket of his scrubs to give to people who were having a tough day. Craig was an excellent baker and competed in the Pillsbury Bake-off in 2012 and 2013. He also competed in many other cooking and recipe contests, taking home several ribbons from the NC State Fair. He hand-wrote dozens of recipes and loved to test them on his coworkers and family. Craig was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving is his daughter, Hope Partin Potter (Sam) of Garner; son, Joshua Partin of Garner and brother, Rev. Duane Partin (wife, Heidi) of Wilmington, NC. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 10th at 2:00 p.m. at the Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel in Garner. A visitation will take place prior to the service, from 12:45 - 1:45 p.m. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Hope and Josh would like to sincerely thank all the staff at Rex Oncology of Garner, and all of the UNC Rex Cancer staff who cared for our dad faithfully for 7 years. Because of their commitment and rigorous treatment options, we were able to have more time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Rex Healthcare Foundation in Craig’s memory.
