Lewis Lemuel Poole

April 28, 1931 — June 26, 2015

Raleigh – Lewis Lemuel Poole, 84,  died Friday. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Peggy Taylor Poole. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Ebenezer United Methodist 6020 Rock Quarry Rd. Raleigh. Lewis retired as an administrative officer from the Plant Pathology Dept. at N.C. State University, with 32 years of service. His military service included time at Camp Detrick, MD involving the production of biological warfare agents followed by a tour in the Far East Command serving under Gen. Maxwell Taylor In retirement, Lewis and Peggy traveled extensively, watching Major League Baseball in most major cities spending time in each state as well as Canada and Mexico. During their children’s formative years they spent weekends in Pamlico County on the Neuse river. Surviving are his son, Steve Poole and wife, Babs; daughter,  Sandra Barbour and husband,  Mike; grandchildren, Chris (Buddy) Poole and wife Emily, Taylor (Bootie) Barbour and Heather Barbour Wyatt and husband Seth; sister, Margaret Buffaloe of Raleigh. Visitation will be Sunday 3-5 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner. At Lewis’ request, in lieu of flowers, please help someone in need.
