Lillian Pope Starling

Lillian Pope Starling, 91, passed away early Thursday, December 26, 2019. Lillian was born in Erwin, NC to the late Adrian and Lanie Bradshaw Pope. She grew up in Clinton, NC before making her home in Garner, NC. She worked many years for the NC Fire Insurance Rating Bureau. She was a charter member of Aversboro Road Baptist Church and the Saint Marys Civitan Club. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at 3:00pm, at Aversboro Road Baptist Church, 1600 Aversboro Road, Garner, NC 27529. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45pm at the church prior to the service. In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Starling, Sr. and her brothers, Charles and Manley Pope. She is survived by her son, Robert McKee Starling, Jr. and wife, Betty, of Garner; daughter, Beth McCormick and husband, Mike, of Scottsdale, AZ; brother, Glenn Pope and wife, Rhonda; sister, Joyce Parrish; sister in law, Peggy Pope; and grandchildren, Aidan, Preston, Michael, and Brandon (Rachel) McCormick.
