Linda Barnes, 81, peacefully passed away at her home on June 29, 2022. Born in Harnett County, she spent over 25 years mostly teaching 2nd grade at Coats Elementary before becoming disabled in 1989 from a rare disease, Friedreich's Ataxia, which has a slow progression that started in her 30s. In heaven, she was greeted by her daughter, Gwendolyn Miller and son, Derek Barnes; her two grandchildren, Craig and Cory; parents, Tillman and Ruby Butts; sister, Marie Zachary; step-brothers, Donald and Jack Butts; and numerous aunts and uncles. She is survived by her son, Cale Barnes (Kristi); grandchildren, Cory Barnes (Samantha), Heather Barnes, Eric Barnes, Brandon Miller, Chase Turlington, Chad Turlington (Sasi), and Megan and Jacob Barnes; great grandchildren, Cole and Ryan Barnes; sisters, Kay West and Jean Sessoms; and ex-husband, Harold J. Barnes. The family would like to thank all the caregivers over the years who made it possible for her to live at home despite all her health issues, especially those who assisted her in the last decade. The family will receive friends at Bryan Lee Funeral Home in Angier on Monday July 4th at 10:00 AM. Funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Mark Howard at 11:00 AM, also at Bryan Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Committal will immediately follow the service at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier, NC.
