Linda Carol DeVane Williams, 62, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at her home in Raleigh, NC. A native of Gainesville, FL, Linda spent her childhood and young adulthood in Johnson City, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles E. and Orien K. DeVane. Linda graduated from Science Hill High School in 1968. She was also a graduate of the University of Delaware. She was employed as a copywriter for WQUT-WJCW, as assistant registrar at the Hunter Art Museum in Chattanooga, as registrar for the Erie Art Museum in Erie, PA, and as assistant director for the Delaware Center for Independent Living. She was chairman of the Board for the Wake Co. Center for Independent Living and an active participant on the Mayors Committee for Persons with Disabilities. She was a loyal Democrat, a community activist, a devout Payton Manning fan, and a life-long animal lover. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Michael Williams of Raleigh, NC; her brother, Robert DeVane and wife, Cindy; her sister, Susan DeVane Carle and husband Terry, all of Johnson City; her nephews, Christopher Carle, David Carle, John Perry, and Jud Perry; her special friends and caregivers Jay and Mia; and her dog Buddy. Memorials may be sent to your local animal shelter. Arrangements by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Raleigh, NC.
