Linda Golden Brown

Linda Golden Brown, 74, of Raleigh, NC, went to be with Jesus on July 10, 2019 at her Raleigh home. Linda was born Nov. 29, 1944, in Washington D.C, to Hale (Happy) and Pauline (Polly) Golden. She married Herb Brown on June 25, 1966 and just celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. Linda and Herb raised two children and were blessed with a wonderful church family in Round Hill. Linda dedicated her life to Jesus as a teenager and lived a life of ministry and service to the Lord. While at Round Hill UMC, she taught the children’s choir, Sunday school, and was involved in nearly every ministry in the church. While her children were teenagers, Linda volunteered with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She went on to lead a vibrant a youth ministry for 8 years while at Round Hill, disciplining the teens, leading Bible studies, taking them to retreats and concerts, feeding the homeless in D.C., and to the Dominican Republic. Linda and Herb served together on a number of mission trips including Malawi, Africa and Mississippi and Louisiana after Katrina hit. They loved the people of Dominican Republic, where they served on six mission trips. They also led the youth on mission trips to Virginia, North Carolina and Maine to help work on people’s homes. Linda has never met a stranger. She loved to meet people from other countries. She radiates Christ’s love, often finding a way to share Jesus with those met. She had a huge heart, listening to and praying with friends and strangers. She is known by all as a prayer warrior. It has been said that she had a direct line to Jesus. Linda was one of those people that made everyone feel like they were her closest friend. Linda is survived by her husband, Herb Brown; two children and their spouses, Julie and Kevin Soderlund, Mark and Elizabeth Brown; 6 grandchildren and her sister Nancy. Due to construction at Hollands U.M.C., funeral services will be held at Highland Baptist Church, 8524 Crowder Rd. Raleigh, NC 27603 on Monday at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Holland’s United Methodist Church Cemetery, 9433 Ten Ten Rd. Raleigh, NC 27603. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
