Linda Grice Byrd

Clayton - Linda Grice Byrd, 81, died peacefully on May 20, 2020 at The Laurels of Forest Glenn in Garner, NC. She served in the Army for two years after high school, worked for 10 years with General Motors, and was a bookkeeper up until retirement. She had a lifelong love for horticulture and enjoyed gardening tremendously. When not gardening she could be found experimenting in the kitchen and creating delicious new dishes for her family. By far, her greatest joy was her family and friends. She was born in Middlesex, NC on July 7, 1938 to Robert Wesley Grice and Lillian Barnes Grice who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her husband B.F. Byrd Jr.; sisters Ruth Horton and Janice Wilder, along with her brothers Bobby Grice and Glenn Grice. She is survived by her daughter Amanda Byrd Howell, her husband, John, and their two children Hunter and Haley of Clayton, her son Patrick Byrd of Garner and her two sisters Marjorie Creel and Dianne Jernigan. She was a very giving, kind, and nurturing person who will be truly missed by all those who knew her.
