Willow Spring - Linda Wathey Merritt 70, of Holly Spring, NC passed away unexpectedly on Aug 16, 2018 at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington, NC. A memorial service will be held Aug 28, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Bryan Lee Funeral Home in Garner NC. Service will be officiated by Darlena Inscore-Porter. She was born on Nov.25, 1947, In East Liverpool, Oh. To the late Ronald Wathey of Oh, and the Late Bessie Rock of Oh. She was preceded in death by her husband Earnest Merritt and her son Cleo Simpson JR She is survived by her children Timmy Mayfield and daughter-in-law Denise Mayfield of Holly Spring, NC, Betsy Genzlinger and son-in-law Roger Genzlinger of Angier, NC, Margie Ridings and son-in-law Jerry Ridings of Willow Spring, NC and Starr Simpson of Willow Spring. Her brother Ronald Wathey and sister-in-law Karen Wathey of Oh. Her sister Judy Bourne and brother-in-law John Bourne of Oh. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother/great grandmother. She took great joy in every interaction with her children and grandchildren, and always put their interests and needs ahead of her own. Linda had 8 Grandchildren, James McDole, Brandy Adams, Jacob Simpson and his wife Kirsten Simpson, Timothy (TJ) Mayfield, Abigail (Abby) Ridings, Mauricio Rodriguez, Isabelle Rodriguez, and Alexis Ridings. 4 Great-Grand kids, Ashlyn Sanderson, Holden Adams, Alaina Simpson, Madison Simpson. In Linda’s spare time she volunteers at the Food Bank in Fuquay-Varina, NC. Doing crafts project with her daughters and playing tea party with her great granddaughter. Following the memorial there will be a celebration of life at her Daughters home, Betsy Genzlinger 259 Old Cabin Ct. Angier, NC 27501. Everyone is welcome to come. There will be food and drinks. The family will have a graveside service at a later date.
