Raleigh - Mrs. Lucille Hill Waters, 95, went to be with her Lord on Friday, September 13, 2013. She had been a resident of Morningside Assisted Living since March. A celebration of her life will be conducted on Monday, September 16, at 2 PM at Hillyer Memorial Christian Church with the Reverend David Mallory officiating. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Born in Snow Hill, Mrs. Waters was the youngest daughter of Blaney and Mary Grimsley Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Waters, Jr.; two sisters, Susie Brinkley and Mary Ida Shaw; and two brothers, Fred and Grimsley Hill. She was a devoted member of Hillyer Memorial Christian Church for over 50 years and was elected as an honorary elder. The Esther Group was an important part of her life, and she served as that groups co-chairperson until her health declined. For many years, Mrs. Waters was an active volunteer in the churchs Prison Ministry and in Meals on Wheels. She was employed in the millinery department at Boylan-Pearce department store and enjoyed the latest fashions in hats. Her later employment was as a secretary for B. G. Young Construction Company. Her surviving family includes her three daughters, Martha Waters Daniel of Lake Lure, Susan Robertson of Garner, and Polly Galloway and husband William of Farmville; grandchildren, Tracey Calfo, Tommy Daniel, Harry Paul Robertson, Luann Penny, Teresa Coats, and Bill Galloway; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
