1921 - 2014 Lucille Wall Smith, 93, of Raleigh, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, died Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at Rex Nursing Care Center. Lucille was born April 27, 1921. She was a 1938 graduate of Hugh Morson High School and attended Hardbarger Business College. She grew up on Hargett Street and was a longtime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. Lucille was a homemaker and loved cooking for family gatherings. As a devoted member of the Farrior Hills Garden Club, she loved working in her yard. Prior to her retirement, she was employed with the N.C. Department of Revenue.She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ray Smith; parents, Henry and Patti Wall; brothers, Clarence Wall and Kenneth Wall; sister, Mary Lou Maynard; and grandson, Richard Lane Warren. Lucille is survived by her brother, Henry Russell Wall of Raleigh; daughter, Pat Warren and husband, Bill, of Raleigh; daughter, Beverly Moore and husband, Jay, of Asheboro; son, Rusty Smith and wife, Vicki, of Pine Level; four grandchildren; 6 ½ great-grandchildren; 4 nephews and extended family.A graveside service will be held Friday, September 12, at 2:00 p.m. in Historic Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Pat and Bill Warren. Lucille loved her family, her church and NCSU; she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church Building Fund, 8304 Leesville Road, Raleigh, NC, 27613, or the Ray Smith Endowment Scholarship at the School of Pulp and Paper at NCSU.
