Lucille Wood Stephenson

GARNER -Lucille Wood Stephenson, 92, devoted, loving wife and mother, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday. She graduated from Four Oaks High School and furthered her education at Kings Business College in Raleigh. On February 23, 1943, she married her sweetheart, Nimrod Stephenson who preceded her in death in 1991. She enjoyed her home, her family and her friends. Together they had two sons, Ken and Reid whom she adored. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday at Highland Baptist Church, 8524 Crowder Road, Raleigh, with burial following at Montlawn Memorial Park. Survivors include her two sons, Dennis Kenyon Stephenson and his wife, Susan of Charlotte and Maurice Reid Stephenson and wife, Patricia of Garner; sister-in-law, Lola and husband, Dr. Matt Delbridge of Goldsboro and sister-in-law, Catherineand husband, Rev. Jack Painter of Raleigh; grandchildren, Chad Michael Stephenson and Stephanie Leigh Dowless and husband, Brian of Charlotte; great-grandson Grayson Hunter Dowless ; sisters-in-law, Ruth Wood of Four Oaks, Ruth Wood of Richmond, VA and Ruby Wood of Wilson.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death brothers, Frank P.(Ruth), Roby (Ruby), Lester (Goda Mae), Earl (Olive), Hershel (Josephine), Floyd (Ruth) and Leon (Marjorie) Wood; sister, Annie Merle Graham; brother-in-law, Donnie Stephenson (Floda); sisters-in- law, Ethel Briley (Frank) and Edna Dupree (Layton).The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Wednesday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
