Lucinda Midgette Wilbur

Born Lucinda Annette Midgette June 5, 1974, Cindy went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Duke Hospital in Durham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherry Midgette and Howard B. Midgette, Jr (Butch); grandparents, uncles and an aunt.

She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Skip Wilbur III; sons, Jacob M. Wilbur (7) and Joshua H. Wilbur (5); sister, Carol (Carrie) Midgette; Sister-in-law, Lynn Flood (David); nieces, Kathryn and Sarah; aunts; uncles; numerous cousins; friends; and fur-babies, Ares, Bella, and Reese.

A life-long Garner resident, she graduated Garner Senior High School in 1992 and attended N.C. State college. She bartended for several years, then went on to work for Electrical Equipment Company for the last 23 years, working different departments before becoming an Accounts Payable associate.

Cindy grew up going to Buxton at the Outer Banks to visit family over the summer and enjoyed the tradition as an adult. She hoped to pass her love of the Outer Banks on to her sons. After growing up in deaf ministry Baptist churches with her parents, Cindy became a member of Garner United Methodist Church where her paternal grandparents attended. She was president of the Youth Group and volunteered time with the Clowning and Clogging group, as well as other young children groups, teaching them sign language. Her love for God showed in her services to others. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by her family and friends laughing and talking. Her sons were the light of her life and answers to years long prayers.

The family wishes to thank Duke Oncology, especially Dr. Justin Low for their support and care over the last several months. We also would like to thank Michelle Parrish, Korynn Thompson, and Sierra Lynn for helping take care of Cindy. A heartfelt thanks to Aversboro Road Baptist Church for their love and support this last year, especially towards her sons.

Visitation Saturday December 30 at 12 pm followed by memorial service at 1pm at Aversboro Road Baptist Church. Reception to follow at Garner Lion's Club on Main street in Garner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
