Lurenda Anne Joyner Risko, age 79, was called home on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
She was born on May 8, 1945 in Wilson, NC, which is where she lived and also met and married her husband John in 1970. A few years later they moved to Raleigh which was where they started their family, and remained in the general area most of their lives.
Lurenda retired from the Wake County Public School System after many wonderful years as a school bus driver in Garner. She spent the next several years working a few part-time jobs to keep herself busy. The last few years of her life she spent enjoying time with her family, sitting in her swing outside enjoying the warm weather, and watching her favorite "old" tv shows and westerns.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lurenda Sarah Bottoms Joyner and George Silas Joyner; her five brothers; her husband of 21 years, John Victor Risko; and her grandson, Timothy Reeves.
She leaves behind her four children, Christy (Matthew) Reeves, Victoria Risko, Allyn (Lisa) Broderick, Misty (Tom) Walsh; her nine grandchildren, Brittany (Ricky) Johnson, Matthew Reeves, Jr., Alyssa Fotch, Cassidy Walsh, Brandon Broderick, Justin (Tami) Broderick, Allison (Mike) Simmons, Sabrina Risko and Olivia Risko; her great-grandchildren, Trenton David, Harper Johnson, Bristol Johnson, Owen Reeves, Melody Reeves, Mason Federer and Beau Federer, and her sister, Gloria Cone.
