RALEIGH - Today we sadly announce that Lyndsay Dute-Hayes passed away on February 1, 2025, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Bill Hayes; her sons, Justin (Patricia) Hayes and Ethan (Anni) Hayes; her cherished grandchildren, Jonathan, Francis, Ethan Hayes Jr, Skyler, Alexa, and Nancy Hayes; and her dear siblings, Diana (Glenn) Massey, Carolyn (Ryan) Lundbum, Elizabeth (Dave) Piner, Leigh (Brian) Filippini, Deborah Barrows, and Michael Dute. She also leaves behind her beloved aunt and uncle, Jackie and Jim McKee, as well as many nieces, nephews, and a tremendous number of friends. Among those who held a special place in her heart were her lifelong friends of over 30 years, Jim and Amy Dever.
Lyndsay was preceded in death by her grandmother, Margaret McDole Dute ("Granny Goodwitch"); her parents, Richard and Julie Dute and Janice McKee Dute; her brother, Michael Barrows; and her beloved little brother, Alan Dute.
Raised in northern Ohio, Lyndsay had a deep love for horses from an early age. As a dedicated member of 4-H, she proudly earned numerous ribbons with her horses. She later pursued a career as a paralegal and became a loyal assistant and friend to the Honorable United States District Judge James C. Dever III-a role she truly loved.
Lyndsay had a passion for German Shepherds and fast cars. From her first MG to her Camaro and eventually her beloved Corvettes, she was known for welcoming spring by driving with the top down. Her good-natured spirit and infectious laugh will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
