Mable Smith Lovin, 88 , of Raleigh, NC, and formerly of Red Springs, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 8th, at her home in Independence Village of Olde Raleigh. She was born in Robeson County, NC on September 25, 1922 to Daniel Evander Smith and Lena McNeill Smith. A graduate of Flora McDonald College and UNC Chapel Hill, she was an art teacher, homemaker, and lifelong member of Red Springs Presbyterian Church. She was predeceased by her husband Archibald King Lovin. She is survived by her three children: William Lovin and his wife Jovita Mask of Apex, NC; Cynthia McArthur and her husband William of Houston, TX; and Timothy Lovin and his wife Shauna of Greenville, SC along with grandchildren Kathryn Byrd and her husband Matthew of Pearland, TX; Margaret Dunne and her husband Bradley of Pearland, TX; Ryan Lovin and his wife Swapna of Washington, DC; and Graham Lovin of Houston, TX; and by great grandchildren Helen and Patrick Byrd of Pearland, TX, as well as her extended family, the Earl Stanford family, of Raleigh, NC. Following a private interment at Alloway Cemetery in Red Springs, a memorial service will be held at Red Springs Presbyterian Church at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 13th. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to The Red Springs Historical Museum, PO Box 403, Red Springs, NC 28377.
