Mamie R. Smith

Angier - Mamie Bryant Ragan Smith, 96, passed away Tuesday morning. A native of Granville County she was the daughter of the late William Harrison and Nancy Katie King Ragan.Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 at Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A member of Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church for thirty one years, she was active in the womens ministry and attended church services as often as her health permitted. Surviving are daughters, Dorothy S. Parker of Canton; Anne S. Garner and Jean S. Gainey, both of Angier; son, Leroy Smith, Jr. of Plant City, Fl.; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. .In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Leroy Smith, Sr. in 1985.The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier and at other times at the home of Anne Garner.
