Mandy Pollard Blalock, 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on July 7, 2024. Born Mandy Elizabeth Pollard in Willow Spring, she was the daughter of the late Addie Baker Pollard and Turner Rufus Pollard.
In addition to her parents, Mandy is preceded in death by her son, Barry Blalock and eight siblings: Troy Pollard, Ila Mae Thompson, Roy Rufus Pollard, Annie Belle Barbee, Virginia Fuller Griffis, Janie Jones, Nolie Pollard, and Needham Pollard.
Mandy was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and great-aunt. Mandy dedicated her life to caring for others. For 22 years, Mandy and Marvin owned and operated Blalock’s Rest Home in Raleigh where she provided care to the elderly community. She remembered every birthday, anniversary, and special event and loved mailing cards to all. She loved celebrations and family reunions and helped coordinate the Pollard and Blalock family reunions for years.
Mandy is survived by her husband of 71 years, Marvin Wallace Blalock, her high school sweetheart; their three children: Lindy Blalock (Shelly), an only daughter, Sherry Donaldson (Bob) and the youngest son, Steve Blalock (Laura); 10 grandchildren, Amanda Blalock, Leslie Blalock (Sara), Michael Donaldson (Brittany), Christopher Donaldson, Stevie Blalock, Carlie Blalock, Ashley Pierce (Michael) and Rebecca Fowler (Jesse), Elijah Blalock and Noah Blalock; 6 great grandchildren: Bryson Hawkins, Aiden Blalock, Owen Pierce, Noah Pierce, August Fowler and Emory Wiggins.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 1PM, at Fellowship Baptist Church 5029 Old Stage Road, Raleigh, NC 27603. Entombment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27603. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 6-8PM, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529.

The Assistance Fund provides people living with life-threatening, chronic, and rare diseases access to critical treatment through financial assistance, education, and advocacy.
