Margie Carter Kelly

Jan. 23, 1922 - Sept. 12, 2013 Raleigh - Margie C. Kelly died Thursday at Kindred Healthcare. She was born in Raleigh, the daughter of the late Frank J. and Ruth W. Carter, and was a lifetime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her husband of 57 years, William Ray Kelly; her brother, Thomas Dwight Carter; her sister, Mary Beasley; and her daughter, Mary Ruth Knott. During 38 years of service with the Division of Health Services of the State Department of Human Resources, she received the Outstanding Service Award for the year 1976. Also, upon retirement in 1980, she received the Governors prestigious award, Order of the Long Leaf Pine. Mrs. Kelly is survived by her son-in-law, Lindsey Knott of Raleigh. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, September 17, at Montlawn Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, September 29, at Tabernacle Baptist Church.
