Margie Hall Mayfield

RALEIGH  Margie Hall Mayfield, 82, passed away on September 2, 2016 at her residence. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 10, at 3 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh.  Rev. Hal Melton will officiate.  Burial will follow at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 until 3 PM on Saturday. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Flonnie Bennett of Georgia, a sister, Janice Worsham, brother-in-law, David Worsham, a brother, Morris Bennett, and a nephew, Bill Worsham. Margie is survived by her husband, Frank B. Mayfield, a sister-in-law, Margaret Bennett, and numerous nieces and nephews. The care and love of children was a major part of Margie’s life.  Margie was assistant director at North Hills Child Care Center for 17 years, a pre-school teacher at local churches, and owner of Sunshine Child Care Home for 15 years. Margie was an avid volunteer, contributing her time to various service organizations.  For this dedicated work she received The Order of the Long Leaf Pine award in 1988.  Margie’s life was filled with love of God, church, family and children.  It brought her much happiness when she worked outside in her flower garden. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church.
