Marguerite Marshall

January 4, 1923 — October 15, 2015

Marguerite Marshall died October 15, 2015 after a period of declining health. She was born in Shiloh, North Carolina on January 4, 1923, the daughter of Sam F. Hudson and Mary Sue Woody Hudson. Marguerite graduated from Woman’s College in Greensboro in 1943. Marguerite was an active member of Edenton Street Methodist Church and the Cokesbury-Isley Sunday School Class since the 1950’s. She was also instrumental in the establishment of Manley Street Day Care Center in the late 1960’s. Active all of her life, she was involved with Meals on Wheels, the Urban Ministry, her church circle, and several bridge and dance clubs. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Iral B. Moore; her second husband, Roy Marshall, her father and mother; and her grandson Michael Williams. She is survived by her son, Mike Moore and wife, Mary; grandchildren Molly and Frank Moore; her daughter, Beth Williams, a grand daughter-in-law Elise Williams and great grandchildren, Benjamin and Natalie Williams; her stepson Steve Marshall and wife, Marilyn; stepdaughter Patricia Meyers and husband Steve; and her brother Sam Hudson and wife, Miriam. The family wishes to thank Glenn Bitler for his wonderful and steadfast companionship and to her loving and dedicated caregiver, Mandy Sandri. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Edenton Street United Methodist Church. Her family will receive friends immediately after the service in Kerr Hall. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in her name to Ruth Sheets Adult Day Care Center, in care of Edenton St. Methodist UMC Church, Meals on Wheels, or Transitions Life Care.
