Maria Adela Bigio De Lopez

April 13, 1933 — December 11, 2021

Maria Adela was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She moved to Garner, North Carolina on June 13th, 2016, after her husband, Army veteran Enrique Lopez Betancourt, passed away. She liked to be called by her middle name, Adela. Enrique loved Adela, and called her "mi amada" (my beloved). They were married for 53 years! They enjoyed spending time together, and their favorite activity was getting lunch and parking under a shade tree to eat. Adela passed away at the age of 88. She is survived by her daughters, Estella and Milca, and her son, Enrique (Jr.). Estella is the eldest, and lives in Aurora, IL with her husband and two daughters. Milca is the middle child, and lives in Garner, NC with her husband and son. Enrique (Jr.) lives is San Juan, PR with his wife and two sons. Adela came from a big family in Puerto Rico. Her funeral service was held there, attended by family and friends. Her body now rests in the National Cemetery of Puerto Rico, with here beloved husband, Enrique. Adela was a wife and mother at heart. She dedicated her life to being a good wife and a great mother. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her family. Prior to getting married, she worked as a seamstress, and spent a number of years employed in a factory in New York City. Adela spent most of her years in Puerto Rico raising her family. When times were tough, she would always find a way to take care of her family. We never lacked food to eat nor clothes to wear. When Adela moved to Garner, she came to live with us: Her daughter, Milca, her son-in-law, James, and her grandson, Samir. Adela enjoyed company and spending time with family. During those five years, we learned about love because of her. We learned the importance of family time. We enjoyed going out together to eat, going for drives, going shopping, listening to music, and laughing together. She enjoyed a good laugh! With Adela we learned the importance of caring for one another, and of spending quality family time.together. We love each other more now because of her. Adela was also part of Grace Christian Fellowship Church in Garner. She had good friends in church that cared for her and loved her. Adela enjoyed listening to the Bible and was very connected with our Lord Jesus Christ. If you met Adela, you would have never forgotten her. She had a smile that showed you how much she loved you and cared about you. Her smile will forever be in our memories. We love you, Adela. We will see you in heaven! We love you forever,
