Marian Smithie Waddell Davis

September 8, 1925 — April 9, 2015

RALEIGH- Marian Smithie Waddell Davis, 89, a devoted and loving wife and mother, died Thursday. A native of Wayne Co. she was the daughter of the late John H. Waddell and Marion Josephine Ward Waddell. She spent many wonderful years serving her church family in different activities and was a longtime member of the GUMC Unity Circle and the Nannie Bryan Sunday School Class. A registered nurse, she worked at Rex Hospital and volunteered with the Red Cross Blood Donation Program. She also enjoyed membership in the Greenbrier Estates Garden Club. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. The family will receive friends 12:00 – 1:00 day of service. A private burial will follow later. Surviving; sons, Mike Davis, Daniel Davis and Glenn Davis; granddaughters, Jennifer Murphy and Rebecca Davis and great grandchildren, Ben and Timothy Murphy. She was predeceased by her husband, John H. Davis and sisters, Lillian Outland, Gladys Hall, Ruby Gundlach, Dixie Waddell, Gertie Porter and Davor Coleman. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Garner United Methodist Church, 201 Methodist Drive, Garner, NC, 27529.
