Marie Cates

Marie Barnes Cates, 91, passed away at the Laurels of Forest Glenn in Garner. She was a native of Harnett Co. and the daughter of the late Herbert and Veola Stephenson. She was employed with Westinghouse for 32 years. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Monday March 14, 2016 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. Burial to follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary McGee Stephenson and two husbands, Clarence Barnes and Vick Cates and a sister, Mary Wilson. Survivors include two daughters; Dottie Earp and Betty Jones and husband Andy; son, Ronnie Barnes; sisters, Arlene Walker and husband I.B., Kathleen Oller and Gloria Taylor; brothers, Cecil Stephenson and wife Betty and Eddie Stephenson and wife Enga; 2- grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends and relatives two hours prior to the service from 12 – 2 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff at the Laurels of forest Glenn especially Nikki Little.
