Marie R. Stranad

RALEIGH – Marie R. Stranad, age 79, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021. She was a North Carolina native, and spent her early years in Goldsboro. Marie was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Reeves Register; and brother, Gerald, and her beloved cousin Diane Syverson. Marie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald L. Stranad, Sr. and was a loving mother to son, Donald L. Stranad, Jr. and daughter, Cynthia M. Stranad. Marie has one granddaughter, Ella 8, whom she adored. The family wishes to thank Denise Grady, CNA for her love and excellent care she took of Marie and Don Sr. over the last several years. For more than 20 years, Keith, Janet, Ryan (Katie), and Alexander Nikitin held a very special place in her heart and in the Stranad family. She had a passion for gardening and enjoyed playing cards. She spent the majority of her married life in Taylor, Michigan and was active as a poll worker in local elections, PTA, and sang in the choir at a Methodist church. Professionally, she worked as a legal assistant in Detroit, Michigan for many years. She and her husband returned to Raleigh, North Carolina in 1989. In the 90s, Marie worked at Kimley-Horn as a receptionist as well as the Cary Towne Center Belk department store in customer service. Marie was loved by many and will be truly missed by her church family at St. Andrews Methodist Church in Garner, and numerous other family members, neighbors and friends.
