Marie T. Willson

RALEIGH – Marie T. Willson, 94, died peacefully on February 29, 2024. We thank God for our life shared with her and her unyielding faith.

Marie was one of three children born to Eunice Hattie Loftin Thompson and Leonard Lee Thompson in Lenoir County, North Carolina.

Marie attended Moss Hill School from grades 1st-12th. “Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger.” Upon graduation she moved to Raleigh where she was enrolled in Kings Business College. On completion of the associate degree program, Marie went on to employment with General Motors Acceptance Corporation – for her 10 year business career.

Marie is survived by her husband of 67 years, Leonard Alfred Willson, Jr.; and by four of her five children, Kathryn Marie Willson, John Carter Willson, Mary Alice Willson, and Martha Neale Willson Connor and husband, David Marion Connor; and two grandchildren, Alice Carter Connor and Sarah Helen Connor, all of Raleigh. She was predeceased by her oldest son, Leonard Alfred Willson, III. Marie will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many, many dear friends.

Marie was undoubtedly happiest serving as a child of God, as an angel, while here on Earth. Loved by all who came to know her. A truly selfless person.

There will be a service in celebration of Marie’s life on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at First Presbyterian Church: 112 S. Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC 27601.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Friendship Fund, or to the charity of your choice.
