Marie W. Johnson

ANGIER– Ruth Marie Williams Johnson, 82, passed away on Thursday at her home with her family by her side. Marie was born in Johnston County to the late William and Kitty Godwin Williams. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 24th at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Angier. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery, Angier. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 23th from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Carl R. Johnson; daughter, Darlene Matthews of Angier; sons, Randall Johnson and wife, Sherian of Angier, Ronnie Johnson and wife, Sue of Raleigh, Donald Johnson of Bowman, GA, Kenneth Johnson and wife, Jeannette of Angier; sisters, Jewel Jackson of Spivey’s Corner; a brother, Richard Williams and wife, Ann of Benson; ten grandchildren, Lucy, Steven, William, Christopher, Kelly, Barry, Tony, Maggie, Molly and Travis; ten great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her son, Alton “Goody” Dale Johnson; sisters, Effie Melton, Teresa Norris and Linda Adams; a brother, Jerry Williams.
