Marion Charles Henderson, Jr.

Raleigh-Marion Charles Henderson Jr. (M.C. Henderson), born December 31, 1918 in Concord, N.C. passed away July 14, 2011. After graduating from High PointCollege in 1939, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served until 1947 as a certified pilot. He and his wife, Catherine Ellison Henderson of High Point, N.C., were married in 1942 and eventually settled in Raleigh, NC. He worked with the N.C. Department of Corrections and then the N.C. Department of Transportation until retirement. He was active in HayesBartonUnitedMethodistChurch as a member of the Wesleyan Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Mens Breakfast Club. He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Catherine Henderson, and is survived by a daughter, Deborah Henderson; son, Charles Henderson and his wife, Marlene B. Henderson; two grandchildren, Todd Henderson and wife, Liz, all of Raleigh and Beth Daniel and her husband Scott; two great-grandchildren, Blythe and Blake Daniel all of Greer, SC; a brother, Bill Henderson and his wife, Dot Henderson of Raleigh and a sister, Ruth Price of Myrtle Beach, S.C. A funeral service will be held at HayesBartonUnitedMethodistChurch on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 1:30 p.m.Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. before the service in the fellowship hall. Burial will be held at RaleighMemorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Pastors Discretionary Fund, HayesBartonUnitedMethodistChurch, 2209 Fairview Rd., Raleigh, NC, 27608.
