Raleigh - Marjorie R. Pearce, Raleigh native, daughter of the late Alton and Inez Morris Pearce finished her earthly chores on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. She was a life long member of Edenton Street Methodist Church, Raleigh, N.C. She was a graduate of Hugh Morson High School, Meredith College and the School of Social Work, William and Mary University, Richmond, Virginia. A social worker by profession, she worked at Wake County Social Services, North Carolina Services for the Blind, and North Carolina Health Services. During World War II she served with the American Red Cross with the 163rd General Hospital in England for 2 years. She received many service awards including a National Humanitarian Award for her contribution to the well being of the blind. She was predeceased by her sister Sue Pearce Williams and niece Suzanne Williams Stanley. Survivors are nephews: Kent and Cory Williams, Michael Stanly and nieces Nicole Cook and Lisa Stanley. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 3, 2014, 11:00 am at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Historic Oakwood Cemetery. Suggested memorials: Camp Dogwood for the Blind, Sherrills Ford, North Carolina; Sheets Center, Edenton Street Methodist Church or Meals on Wheels of Wake County.
