Marjorie Ridoutt

October 10, 1928 — April 17, 2025

Marjorie Taylor Ridoutt, 96 years old, Toledo, OH passed on April 17, 2025. Born in Saulston, Wayne County, in eastern North Carolina. She was one of ten children of Benjamin F, and M. Elizabeth Taylor, all preceding her in death. She married Robert L. Ridoutt (deceased) in Garner, NC in 1949 and lived all but the last 9 years of her life in North Carolina. She has 5 children: Robert D. (Ohio), Archie W. (North Carolina), J. Alan (North Carolina), K. Elizabeth (deceased), and Tammy L. (Georgia, and recently Ohio); 4 grandchildren, Julie, Ammon, David, and Robert; and 5 great grandchildren.

She lived with and was cared for by son Alan and his wife Melinda for 15 1/2 years before moving to Ohio in 2016 to live with her grandson, Ammon and his family. She loved being surrounded by her great grandchildren. When Covid hit in 2020 the family decided it would be safer for her to live with her son Robert. When her health took a significant downturn in 2023 her daughter Tammy moved up to Toledo and moved in to help care for her mom.

"Miss Margie" as she was known by the children and parents of the daycare she worked in for almost 30 years had a great love of children. For most of her working years she cared for infants and toddlers whose parents could concentrate on their jobs, confident in the loving care their children were receiving.

Since moving to Ohio, she has been known as "Grandma" to almost everyone who knew her.

Marjorie was a loving mother and wife as well as a great friend who could be counted on to listen, to comfort, and to offer companionship. Her kind, loving presence was an indication of her closeness to the Lord. If the patient, good-natured bearing of trials is an indication of faith, Miss Margie was well prepared to meet her Maker.

For more than a year, she has been lovingly cared for at home by the Comfort Keepers care team during the day. She thought of these ladies as family and her family very much appreciated their thoughtful, compassionate efforts to keep her physically and emotionally comfortable. She was known to get a laugh out of those that visited her and enjoyed them making her laugh too. Comfort Keepers and Tammy's care allowed the family to keeps Marjorie at home until she quietly passed away the evening of the 17th.
