CARY - Mark Alan Vetter went home to be with the Lord on October 16,2023 after a hard-fought battle with aggressive Large B-Cell Lymphoma. Mark was born in Boston and raised by his parents Carl Eugene Vetter and Mildred Mae Liescheidt Vetter who preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents, Mark is preceded in death by his precious daughter, Alyson Emily O’Connell whom he loved dearly.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Linda, stepson Chris Lamb and wife Lena, brother Todd (Andrea), sister Carla, his special niece Jerri, nephew Ben (Hannah), great nephews Callahan and Bennett, son-in-law Mitch O’Connell, and two awesome grandsons, Will Lamb and Aiden O’Connell.
Mark had a long and successful career with Caterpillar. His career began in the factory and with hard work and dedication he worked his way up to management. He traveled the world and was blessed to be exposed to many different cultures. In his forties he went back to school and earned a Bachelor of Art degree graduating suma cum laude.
He loved motorcycles and fast cars and was able to travel the country on his Harley with his biker buddies earning him the 200,000 mile patch. He was a member of CMA and an active member of Capital City Biker Church. He loved his church family and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Capital City Biker Church located at, 8116 Ten Ten Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27603, with fellowship and a dinner after the service until 6. His life will also be celebrated for family and friends in Illinois sometime in December.
