Mark Forest Jones, 60, ran his final race and the checkered flag waved on August 5, 2016. He was met in the winner circle by Jesus, his mother, father and brother. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Walter “Casey” Jones, his mother, Marjorie Crumpton Jones, and his brother Ed Pleasants. He is survived by his sister, Cathryn Jones Brindle (Jim Brindle) of Rock Hill, SC, nieces Michelle Pleasants of Wendell and Heather Pleasants of Knightdale. His is also survived by his special cousin, Charles Carver and many other loving cousins and friends who became family. Mark was a ray of sunshine to everyone he met and never met a stranger. He was a graduate of the Raleigh CP Center. He was known as the “mayor” of Windsor Point Community in Fuquay-Varina since 1999. Prior to that, he lived in Roylene Acres in Raleigh. Mark enjoyed all sports but especially NASCAR. His favorite driver was Richard Petty whom he had the opportunity to meet on several occasions. Mark’s legacy is that he made everyone feel special. A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Monday, August 8, 2016 in the Chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh. Entombment will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Cerebral Palsy, Alzheimers Association, Forest Hills Baptist Church or a charity of one’s choice.
