Martha Weddings Driver, 86, of Garner, N.C., died in her sleep early Sunday. She was a godly woman and a proud mother and grandmother who was known for her playful sense of humor, her concern for others, and her heart for service. Excellent with numbers, she worked for Bank of America for more than 32 years, retiring in 1992. She was also a longtime volunteer for the N.C. Board of Elections, Meals on Wheels of Wake County and the Rex Cancer Center. A few months before she died, when asked to offer her advice to the world, she said: To love Jesus with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. Shes survived by her only child, her daughter Kathryn D. Crayton of Garner; two grandchildren, Cherry Crayton of Garner, and Tripp Crayton and his wife, Jennifer of Raleigh; three siblings, Lou Saunders of Zebulon, Al Weddings of Boiling Springs, and Harry Weddings and his wife, Virginia of Garner and an aunt Clarice Webster of Hurdle Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Wilbert D. Driver in May 2001; brothers, Ira, Charlie, Howard Doc, Jack and Morris Weddings and sister, Ann Stephenson. Funeral services will be Tuesday 3:00 PM at Bryan -Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. Family will receive friends 2-3 PM prior to the service. Memorial contributions made be made to the Mission Fund of Garner Free Will Baptist Church or Meals on Wheels of Wake County. The family wishes to express their thanks to her caregiver, Lazoe Bellamy, her best friend Carolyn Green, to the members of the Garner Free Will Baptist Church, the neighbors of the Heatherwoods subdivision, and the countless number of friends she had - all who were a presence of Christ in her life. Your support, friendship, and companionship meant the world to her, and she and the family are forever grateful to each of you for the love and care you have shown through the years. The family also wishes to express their special appreciation to Dr. David Spivey, Jr. and Dr. Patricia Naslund for their medical care of mother during her lengthy illness.
