Marvin “Bill” Lewis Bradley


A burial celebrating the life of Marvin Lewis Bradley, 95, of Raleigh, who died April 21, 2024, will be April 29, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Wilmington National Cemetery. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends who will forever hold the memory of him close to their hearts.


Bill was born March 16, 1929, in Concord, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Sarah Augusta Bennett. He was the widower of Mitchelene “Mickey” Purser and Grace Allman. Bill is survived by his sister Linda (William) Martin of Concord. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Reese Bradley and Jerry Byars.


Surviving children are Pam Bruton of Southport, Joan Bradley of Garner, Robert (Colleen) Bradley of Holly Springs. Surviving stepchildren are Judy (Mike) Charles of Kannapolis, Barbara (Bill) Leake of Harrisburg, and Carol Overcash of Kannapolis. Bill had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.


A retired Master Sergeant and Vietnam Veteran from the United States Marine Corps with 29 years of service most of which was based at Camp Lejeune. Bill was a very proud Marine. After USMC Bill worked for the United States Civil Service until fully retiring.


Bill enjoyed Nascar, Golf, Baseball and Football. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan and had a lot of collectibles. Bill was a member of the Golf Association of Rowan Seniors and played every Monday for many years. He enjoyed driving across country to see different parts of the United States.


Bill was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church in Kannapolis, NC and served as a Deacon. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Temple.


The family would like to thank the staff at Avendelle at Waterford Landing in Raleigh for their loving and compassionate care. We would also like to thank Transitions LifeCare Hospice for taking care of Bill in his final days.
