Mary Alice Womble

Garner - Mary Alice Atkins Womble, 83, passed away on Wednesday surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late James L. Atkins and Florence Jones Beasley and was preceded in death by her husband, John Harold Womble; step-mother, Lois Atkins and sister, Martha Atkins, and a special friend, Sam Jackson. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Womble,( Rick Watson), Becky Hupp ( Norm), Cindy Burke( Keith); grandchildren, Beth Simmons(Ken) , Cameron Nelson ( Justin), Abby Hupp, John and Anna Burke; great-grandchildren, Noah Simmons, Wesson and Emery Nelson. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Atkins and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be Friday, 2:00 pm at Highland Baptist Church, Raleigh. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Womble loved children and was the Director of Childrens Academy in Garner for many years. She also worked at New Beginnings Child Care. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Highland Baptist Church, 8524 Crowder Road, Raleigh, NC 27603.
