Mary Ann Hocutt, 80, of Raleigh, passed away October 25, 2021. A native of Wake County, Mary Ann was born January 22, 1941, to the late Bertie Geron and Grace Perry Gay. She graduated from Knightdale High School in 1959, where she played four years of basketball. Mary Ann grew up on her family’s farm, as the only girl of five children. She was daddy’s girl. She was an avid bowler and loved playing church league softball. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. Mary is survived by her husband, Melvin Eugene Hocutt; children, DeAnne Phillips and husband, Ernie, Michael Hocutt and wife, Lisa, Stephen Hocutt and wife, Melody, and Timothy Hocutt; grandchildren, Leslie, Geron, Zane, Tyler, and Jeremy; great grandson, Malachi; and a brother, Donald Gay. In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Billy, and Robert Gay. A Memorial service will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 29, 2021, in the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel, Garner. The family will receive friends for an hour prior, from 12:00 to 1:00 at the funeral home.
