Mary Ann Yates

Raleigh - Mary Ann Yates, 81, wife of the late Dee Yates, Sr., died Wednesday at her home. Born in Durham, she was the daughter of William M. Daves and Mary Louise Bowen Daves. Mary Ann served as organist at St. Andrews United Methodist Church for 25 years, as well as taught piano to many students. As a military wife, she traveled extensively; she lived a very active life and will be missed by her family and her friends. She is survived by her children, Darrell Dee Yates, Jr., Kathy Ann Tankersley, Sharyn Lynn Lyles and Michelle Lynn Yates, their spouses, 10 grandchildren, their spouses and 23 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 pm Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday at St. Andrews United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens.
