Mary Carolyn Surles Collins

Angier- Carolyn Surles Collins, age 83, went peacefully to be with our Lord on October 15, 2021. She was born in Angier, NC to the late Lloyd and Lucy Surles. Carolyn graduated from Campbell College in 1974 with a degree in Elementary Education. Carolyn taught with Harnett County Schools for 25 years and spent her life educating all of those around her. She loved giving to visitors, giving “grandma support”, and taking all her grandchildren shopping.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Lee Collins Jr.; brother Derry Thomas Surles; and sister Karen Jean Surles Jackson.

Those left to cherish her memory are, daughter, Melody Page Dupree, son-in-law, Larry Glenn Dupree; sister, Kathryn Surles Minter; brothers, Donnie Ray Surles (Karen), and Lloyd Stuart Surles; grandchildren, Ryan Matthew Dupree, Morgan Faith Surles, Brooke Blackman Cheng (Tien), Caroline Paige Truelove (Norwood); and great-grandchild, Charlotte Grace Truelove. Carolyn is also survived by her stepdaughter, Debbie Collins Lucas; step-grandchildren, Ronnae Logan Page and Hayden Rae Deaver; and many other special nieces and nephews.

There will be a private Celebration of Life held at a later date.
