Mary Ellen Ross

GARNER- Mary Ellen Ross, 82, of Garner, NC, beloved wife, mom, and mema passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023. A native of Johnston County, NC, Mary Ellen was born August 1, 1941 to James A. and Gladys M. Lee.

Mary Ellen is survived by her husband of 64 years, Arthur Signal Ross; daughters, Alice Driver of Zebulon, Jane Ross of Bolivia and Nancy Yokley (David) of Garner; granddaughter, Mandy Driver, and grandsons, Jeff Yokley and John Yokley; sisters, Carolyn Parker of Clayton and Faye Sasser of Clayton; brother Retired Sargent Major Aubrey Gene Lee of Washington, DC. She was preceded in death by siblings Ameilia Speight, J.W. Lee, Rex Lee, Bobby Lee and Linda Lee Medlin. She was loved by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary Ellen was a stay at home mom until she started public work to help send her daughters to college. She retired from Wake Med when her health no longer allowed her to work. She spoiled her grandchildren and the rules she used for raising her children never applied to her grandchildren. She loved her church, was active with her Sunday School class, and helped with the card ministry. She loved to support the Special Blessings ministry at church and one of her favorite activities was hosting their annual Christmas party at her home. She loved chocolates and no one ever left her house hungry.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 1pm at Aversboro Road Baptist Church, 1600 Aversboro Road Garner, NC 27529. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
