Mary Ethel Guin

August 4, 1931 — November 26, 2023

Mary Ethel Guin, 92, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023. Born in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Nellie Avery Morris.


A funeral service will be held, Monday, December 4, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Carolina Pines Baptist Church in Raleigh. Burial will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park.


The family will receive friends at the church between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm.


Mary is survived by her sons, Jerry Guin (Terri) of Garner, Larry Guin (Linda) of Fuquay, Ronnie Guin (Donna) of Selma, and her daughter Betty Hurst (Clyde) of Raleigh; as well as, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.


She is preceded in death by her husband, Aaron L. Guin; her brothers, Charles and John Morris; her sisters, Mattie Johnson and Carolyn Morris, along with her beloved grandson, Aaron A. Guin.


Ms. Mary was known for her love of family and cooking. Many memories were made, and meals shared around her kitchen table.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carolina Pines Baptist Church, 2655 S. Saunders St, Raleigh, NC 27603.
