Mary Jones Boone

FUQUAY-VARINA – Mary Jones Boone, 94, passed away on Monday at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Wake County, she was the daughter of the late William M. Jones and Mammie Collins Jones.

Mary was born and raised on her family farm in Fuquay-Varina. She met Frank in 1950 and it was love at first sight. They were married in July that same year and spent 73 years together. Early on she went to work for a new company, Betts Tackle, to which she dedicated the next 36 years until her retirement in 1992.

After retirement she continued with her other passion of running a children’s consignment shop with her beloved twin sister Florence Rollins. They were like two peas in a pod and had a special bond that only twins can understand. Mary never knew an idle moment. Whether it was running her consignment store, working in her yard, cooking the most delicious meals, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she was always on the go!

She loved her church and church family at Piney Grove Baptist where she and Frank are faithful members. She always put her family’s needs above her own and was a very special lady to everyone that knew her. She will be greatly missed by all.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, January 19th at Piney Grove Baptist Church at 3217 Piney Grove-Wilbon Rd, Fuquay-Varina, 27526. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 20th at 1:00 pm at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 3217 Piney Grove-Wilbon Rd., Fuquay-Varina. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Fuquay-Varina.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Franklin Lee Boone, Sr.; sons, Franklin Lee “Frankie” Boone, Jr. (Nancy) of Fuquay-Varina, William “Daniel” Boone, Sr. (Ruth) of Fuquay-Varina, James Wilbour Boone (Robin) of Raleigh; sister, Marie Jones Heath of Raleigh; grandchildren, Holly Boone Conner (Clark), Jennifer Boone Powell (Blake), Jonathan Collins Boone, Anthony “Neal” Sears (Brandi), Steven “Kyle” Sears (Elaina), Caroline Lee Boone, William “Daniel” Boone, Jr., William “Will” James Boone, Mary Katherine Boone, and Samantha Anne Boone; great-grandchildren, Edison Conner, Alexander Conner, Maci Powell, Kate Powell, Kayden Rose, Cooper Sears, Everette Sears, and Boone Sears.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Boone Sears; siblings, Rev. J. P. Jones, Rev. Willie Jones, K. D. Jones, Sherrill Jones, Florence Rollins, Viola Jones, Willard Jones, and Wilton Jones.
