Mary Lee Penny Cooper

Mary Lee Penny Cooper, 98, a graduate of East Carolina Teachers College, taught 1st grade for 45 years. A native of Garner, she was the daughter of the late Eddie R. and Lillie Mae Carroll Penny. She was predeceased by her sisters; Doris Whitaker, Irene Peacock , and Annie Laurie Frising; brothers, Lawrence Penny and Sam Penny and a nephew, George Peacock. The 1st of 6 siblings, she spent her life caring for all those who came after her. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. Surviving are her niece, Karen Norkus and husband, Chris of Whispering Pines, nephew, Richard Peacock and wife, Dee of  Swansboro; great nephews, Jon Peacock, Maurice Peacock, Jordan Peacock and Conan Norkus.
