Mary Lou Smith, 93, formerly of Raleigh, a retired Registered Nurse from Rex Hospital, passed away Monday at WakeMed Raleigh. “And He said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment. And a second is like it. You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 22:37-39) Mary Lou Smith not only knew the Word, she lived it. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 on Saturday, April 10, at Montlawn Memorial Park by Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence and Rev. Shane Smith. This service is open to the public. She is survived by daughters: Jackie S. Mills of Apex, Jean S. Spence of Lincolnton, and Patti J. Hudson of Raleigh; sons, W. Wayne Smith of Fuquay-Varina, and Jeff Smith of High Point; her niece, Jenny Horton; nephew Danny Smith, twelve grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
