Mary Magdalene Batten Bayne

Mary lived in Garner, North Carolina and passed away peacefully on December 12, 2022. She was born on October 28, 1929, in Johnston County, daughter of Mary Hicks Batten and Alonzo Cournel Batten. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lisle Bayne and son, Jay Alexander Bayne, Cournel Batten, Hazel Batten Wolicki, Ruth Batten Hess, Steven Batten, Bill Batten, Coy Batten and Jimmy Batten.

Mary graduated from Glendale High School in 1947, Western Michigan University and Indiana University. She taught school in Michigan and Indiana.

Mary is survived by a son, Robert Lisle Bayne, Jr. U.S. Navy (retired), two granddaughters, Hillary Bayne and Stacey Bayne-Jones, two great-granddaughters, Khloe and Amarah, and special family friend Pat Larson, amongst many other friends and family that she loved dearly.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, January 14 from 11:00 – 11:45AM at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church. 8980 Old Beulah Rd. Kenly, NC 27542, with the funeral service immediately following at 12PM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
